Bring out a small wooden box and place it down on the table. Have a playing card freely chosen and signed by a spectator. Shuffle it back into the deck and ask, "Do you think that I can find your card in less than ten seconds without even looking at the cards?"

Hold the deck behind your back for several seconds, then bring it out and announce, "I've found it!" Pause briefly, then continue, "And guess where it is..." Point to the wooden box that has been resting on the table all along. There's absolutely no way the card could be inside because no one has been anywhere near the box.

Slowly reach over with your empty hand and pick up the box, then bring it over to the spectator and say, "Please remove the lid." The spectator lifts the lid and sees a folded card inside. Turn the box over and dump out the card, then place the empty box down on the table. The spectator unfolds the card; it is his card with his signature!

At the conclusion you can leave the box on the table for your audience to handle; they won't find a clue to the mystery.

A small chrome box is shown empty, the doors front, back and top are all opened to show nothing inside. The box is closed, and a silk handkerchief is produced from the box. On this disc, you will learn powerful walk-around magic that can be done anywhere at anytime, surrounded, and with a normal deck of cards.

Card Across: A selected card is left protruding from half the deck in your left hand while the other half remains in your right hand. Instantly and without the packets ever touching their card vanishes and reappears protruding face-up in the right hand packet. The card can be signed!

Fission for Aces: An eight is turned face up on top of the deck. In a splitting action, the eight is ripped into two fours of matching color. One of the fours is handed out, as the remaining four is this time split at the fingertips into two two’s. Lastly, as you can imagine, a two is split into two aces. This quick trick is extremely visual – everything is done at the fingertips.

Collectors: We've taken this classic and usually boring effect and given it STYLE. Two cards are selected and lost in the deck. As the four aces are magically produced, the selections mysteriously appear between them. This is as visual as it gets.

Swiss Made: Here’s a remix of the classic 'Back in Time' effect by Steve Freeman.

Sixty Nine: The coolest packet trick you’ll ever perform. The 4 sixes are shown with the added Buck flair. The performer jokes about how if he turns the six around it changes to a nine (pointing to an upside down six from the spectators POV). The next time the performer turns them around, they really do change to 4 nines and the cards can be handed out for examination.

Hand to Mouth: The spectator is instructed to push their protruding card flush with the deck... By this time the card is already in your mouth.

Déjà Vu: Any card is selected and sandwiched between the two red aces; these cards are clearly placed on the table. Another card is selected, however, the performer miscalls it as the first selection. This second selection is face up on top of the deck. With a snap, the card visually transforms into the first selection sandwiched between the red aces. The cards on the table are spread to reveal the second selection sandwiched between the black aces.

This effect can be performed to small or large groups of people, and can be fully examined at the end. The effect is that a bank note is borrowed, and signed by the spectator. This is then placed under a handkerchief and handed to a spectator to hold. The magician then takes a locked, brass tube from their pocket, and hands this, with the keys, to a second spectator. The magician then pulls the handkerchief, and the note is seen to totally vanish. The spectator holding the tube is then asked to remove the brass padlock, remove the bolt securing the lid, and remove the lid. The magician is not near the tube at this stage, the spectator then removes the signed note from the tube.

This is a high quality prop, which is easy to perform, though some practice is required to perfect the routine and presentation. Comes complete with printed instructions, tube, lock, and handkerchief.

It was nice to see someone using a Tiger deck. Hopefully, people will realize that this is just another deck of cards and that when you present your magic as just a regular deck with different colors, then the audience fully accepts it. I know that those of us who know this already and practice it enjoy hearing spectators make positive comments about you using an unusual deck and how it separates you from the rest of the pack.

Every trick plays really well to the audience and it’s easy to see that this stuff work extremely well in pretty much everyone’s act. This is visual magic that audiences love. Even if it’s only a single trick that you like, it’ll be well worth it because you’ll love that trick.

Virtually everything said by Nate is purely instructional (take a card, put it back in the deck, etc). The up side to this is that it will force people to create their own presentations for the tricks. I’m curious to see where people’s ideas go from here.

The tricks definitely have potential to get some great reactions. Like with any magic trick, it all depends on who is doing the trick and what is done with it. The material can be performed by anyone, but showmanship is definitely going to be required.

Nate's tips on Loops are sound and will help even the seasoned "loop worker." The teaching is complete and Nate covers everything that you need to know to perform the tricks properly and easily. In addition to the methods, Nate covers performance advice based off of real-world experience. This is very nice, as Nate actually goes through things that will help you in just about any performance venue.

The presentations here were also like the other two. This DVD set will give you all the technical aspects of the tricks, but you will need to create your own presentations. Some of the material here will allow for some emotionally-driven presentations, so I hope they are filmed and posted in the Member Videos forum.

The material here is very original and definitely would play well to any audience. Life is a beautiful piece of magic that really can become something that people will remember forever. The other material is unique and can instantly go into the performance repertoire of virtually every magician who uses Loops.

Daniel's teaching is exactly what you'd expect - thorough without being boring. He covers everything you need to know to perform the trick, the tips are designed to help you when performing for real audiences in real situations, and he does it all without being boring or cheesy. It's nice to see that his performing style matches his teaching style. Some of this material might require you to watch the video a few times to learn, but you will get it. Patience is your friend.

The tips here are just as valuable as those in the other videos. Daniel offers tips and advice that comes into play for virtually every performer. It's clear that he has been out performing with Loops in all the situations that you could imagine. This advice will help you perform the tricks in real-world performance situations and allow you to be successful. The best part about these tips (and the tips in the other two videos) is that you get to listen and learn to those who have the real-world experience. Remember that these guys learned most of these lessons the hard way. They are passing this information onto you so you can become more successful and at a faster rate.

For the price, it's easy to say “Yes!” to all three volumes. Loops are dear to my heart and I was very excited to hear about this project. Now that I have seen the "final result," I believe that Loops have been taken to a new level. There is some very powerful magic taught in this DVD set and the tips will allow the students to use the magic on a regular basis. Fortunately, the material will not take you years or months to master. I feel that it's possible to learn every piece in the DVD set in a month or so, provided you have regular practice and study on it.

Again, it is nice to see a Viper deck being used and being accepted by the audience. I have always been a firm believer that the only people who have audiences "question" their Tiger/Viper/Ghost/whatever decks are not presenting the deck itself properly and blaming the prop. I present a Masters deck in the exact same fashion that I would present a Tiger deck to ensure the audience knows the deck itself is fine. Far too many magicians just assume that because the audience did not openly question the deck, then they believe it is not gimmicked.

I remember seeing Justin performing some of this material for real audiences when he visited Vancouver last summer. I can personally say that this material obtained stunning reactions on a consistent basis, from a variety of spectators. His haunted pack where the selected card turns itself over for the reveal is one of the nicest things that I have seen accomplished with a Loop.

Again, we only see patter that is technical explanations required to accomplish the trick (pick a card, watch the fork, etc). However, this is something that I prefer, as it forces us (as magicians) to create our own presentations. Since some of the tricks have multiple elements, there are lots of presentational options – I love that freedom.

Justin's teaching is complete and easy to follow. Some of the tricks have a bit of process to them, but Justin covers everything so nicely that you can quickly learn each one. Some of the methods are unlike anything I have ever seen with Loops before, and a creative mind can definitely take some of this stuff in other directions to create new tricks. While I already knew all of the methods from previous instruction (I attended Justin’s lecture while he was here in Vancouver), I found myself watching them a few times to pick up the tips more than once.

His real-world tips are phenomenal and should be heard by any magician who is using Loops. You can easily tell that Justin learned a lot of these real-world tips the hard way, like a true worker. I do hope that people listen to the tips a few times and really take them to heart. Justin is providing some valuable information to ensure that you learn the "real-world lessons" the easy way. The hard way usually means having a trick failing in a performance.

Effect: A deck of cards is removed from its case and handed to the spectator for shuffling. It is a genuine, unmarked deck – not gimmicked in any way. The spectator shuffles the cards until he is satisfied and then holds on to them – the performer doesn’t touch them again. Drawing attention to the card case, the performer fairly shows it on all sides pointing out that there are clearly no slits or holes to be found anywhere. You turn your back and instruct the spectator to spread the cards face down, push any card from the spread and without looking at it, seal it in the card case. The rest of the deck is then hidden from view and the performer turns back round and begins to concentrate intensely, focusing all his energy on the card case. Bit by bit, he begins to reveal the unknown card. First the colour….black. Then the suit….a Club. And finally, the value….a King, it’s the King of Clubs! The spectator is asked to remove the card from the case and sure enough the card inside is none other than the King of Clubs!

The above is merely an example of what is possible with the devious gimmick described within. ‘The Second Guest’ uses a 100% regular deck that is genuinely shuffled in any fashion by the spectator. No marked cards. No prior set up of the deck. Completely free choice of card which will be different every time. Can be performed at any point in your set – not strictly an opener or closer.

You’ll love the action of the ‘auto-gimmick’ that hides in plain sight until you activate it through the simplest of actions and proceed to devastate the onlookers with your amazing powers of second sight! STRANGER CARD: The performer places a BLUE backed prediction card in the spectator's hand, face down. Another spectator takes any card out of the RED backed deck, and he signs it. The card is put back into the deck. With no funny moves, the prediction card is then slowly, slowly turned over to reveal the spectator's SIGNED, selected card-- now with a BLUE back. What the...?!

PIP MATRIX: Cause the pips (suit symbols) to visually move around the selected card-- culminating with all of the pips jumping to one corner of the card.

CAPTAIN BLUR: Hold complete control of your spectator's senses. Their chosen card appears to literally go out of focus at your will.

A card is selected, signed, then mixed back into the deck.

Standing on one side of the window with the spectator, you ask them to push the cards up against the glass and mix them around in a jumble, holding them against the glass.

With the spectator holding the cards on the glass, you walk around to the other side. You pause. You know that the effort you put into showmanship here is going to pay off in a few moments. Confidence is like blood running through your veins.

You tap on the cold, hard glass to emphasize the impossible nature of what is going to take place. You lower your hands and seemingly begin to extract one card-- slowly-- from the scatter that the spectator is pressing against on the other side.

To the spectators, it actually looks as if the card is sticking half way out of the glass... it takes genuine effort to pull it through. You can even take a few steps back.

There is a reason we call it Surgical Card Through Window. It looks like slow surgery on a plain slab of glass. The card is SLOWLY turned over-- it is in fact their signed, selected card on the other side of the window.

Sit back, relax, and enjoy the show. Because when you turn that card over you are going to be watching one.
